Schu's Travel Soundtrack -or- I Predict...

I decided to use my psychic powers to create the perfect travel soundtrack for Schu, suitable for each part of her adventurous adventure. Here are my predictions:

Holiday, by JET (Shine On) - Carefree and "seat dancing" on the plane. It makes no difference what THEY SAY. Schu is on a freakin' HOLIDAY! Woot woot!

Run Through The Jungle, by Creedence Clearwater Revival (Chronicle, Vol. 1) - Upon arrival in Antigua, Schu will not be able to restrain herself or contain her joy and will immediately run through the jungle hugging rubber plants and natives on her way to her first volcano!

Soul Singing, by The Black Crowes (Lions Rock) - After calming down at last, a sustainable joy will settle in as Schu embarks on her day trips in Copán, her soul singing for the freedom she's found in the Mayan ruins and the green things growing all around her.

Something's Got A Hold On Me, by Etta James (The Best Of Etta James) - Love. She will fall in love with the waters of Roatan and all the treasures they hold. Standing with her hands on her hips, surveying the beauty before her, she will sigh and think "Oh, it must be love."

Motor Away, by Guided By Voices (Alien Lanes) - Motoring away to León and it's culture, wondering if the trip can get any better. Oh yes it can, Schu! Just you wait until Track 12!

Beautiful Day, by U2 (All That You Can't Leave Behind) - Schu will be overcome by all the history and culture to explore in Granada, feeling truly blessed.

Today, by 100 Portraits & Waterdeep (Enter The Worship Circle) - And just as all her senses are a-tingle with adventure, San Juan del Sur will give her spirit a much-needed chance to catch its breath, seaside. Today she will spend a moment entering into God's presence and being thankful.

Yellow, by Coldplay (Parachutes) - Ometepe, the nature lover's dream, and who is a bigger nature lover than Schu?! One time someone told me that the song "Yellow" reminded them of how much God loved them. Ometepe will remind Schu of the same. : )

Sons & Daughters, by The Decemberists (The Crane Wife) - Time for more toe-tapping travel tunes! Off to Monteverde, arriving in a whole other world. Alien or immigrant, Schu? Somehow "just visiting" won't feel quite right to you by now.

Land of My Sojourn, by Rich Mullins (A Liturgy, A Legacy, and A Ragamuffin Band) - La Fortuna and the road to the volcano! "And this road she is a woman, and she was made from the rib, cut from the sides of these mountains, oh these great sleeping Adams, who are lonely even here in paradise, who need somebody to kiss them, and I'll sing my song, in the land of my sojourn..." Sing Schu, and maybe even kiss some poor lonely mountains. : )

Fake Palindromes, by Andrew Bird (The Mysterious Production of Eggs) - Speaking of lonely, after experiencing such love and beauty, by this time, Schu's head will be spinning and her heart looking for a little romance in San José. But here? And where...?

Mr. Hurricane, by Beast (Mr. Hurricane - Single) - She'll wander the streets aimlessly, stumble into a discoteca, and there... Schu will encounter a dancing latin hurricane of a man who'll grab her by the hand and they'll disco the night away!

Dance Hall, by Modest Mouse (Good News For People Who Love Bad News) - The whole day at the Gold Museum, all Schu can think about is getting back to that dance hall! Will he be there? Will he dance with her? She must go get that fabulous red dress she saw in the shop window two blocks back... just in case. But alas, she does not make it back.

Glory Hallelujah, by Brian Wright and the Waco Tragedies -Alas again, rafting the Pacuare River keeps Schu away from Sr. Hurricane. The waters invigorate her and leave her with quite an appetite for a little, um, salsa. ; ) Muy caliente! But will she ever get back to the discoteca? Will she see him again?

Ooh La La, by Goldfrapp (Ooh La La - Single) - Schu and her friends go to market. She sighs. But then, ooh la la, what is that? Why, Sr. Hurricane is there! Purchasing the loveliest bouquet of flowers. Schu, throwing caution to the wind and embracing her spicy side, pushes through the crowd to the flower vendor. But a tourist bus pulls up between them and as she makes her way around it, he is gone.

Salute Your Solution, by The Raconteurs (Consolers of the Lonely) - Their last night in San Jose, Schu suggests they all go dancing. She puts on her red dress. They return to the discoteca. Schu scans the crowd for Sr. Hurricane, but she does not see him. How will they find each other in this crowd? A ha! The table! Schu jumps onto the table and begins to dance. From across the room, he sees her and runs to her, carrying the flowers from the day before. He knew she would come back for him!

Bittersweet Symphony, by The Verve (Urban Hymns) - The night wears on and Schu and Sr. Hurricane have one last dance. It is a bittersweet goodbye. She smiles as she walks away, knowing this will be her favorite dress for a long, long time.

Nothing But a Heartache, by Flirtations - With the flowers pressed in her travel journal and the dress vacuum sealed in her pack, Schu heads for the airport.

Train, by Matt the Electrician - The journey home is long but leaves plenty of time to reflect, write, and sigh pleasant sighs.

Good Good End, by Waterdeep (Heart Attack Time Machine) - Pulling into her familiar driveway, Schu is home at last. It was a long, long road, with a good, good end. "Hmmmm," Schu wonders, "Where does one find a discoteca in Los Angeles?"

: )

Happy travels Schu! Many adventures. You look amazing in red! ; )
